Comparison Car Hire

When you place a car hire booking at www.comparisoncarhire.com you will receive a £10* discount voucher for use with Zintech when hiring a sat nav. Comparison Car Hire is our sister site and has now been online since August 2009. Comparison Car Hire searches for the best prices on the internet from a range of leading suppliers. This saves you from visiting all the different websites and entering your details over and over again.

On Comparison Car Hire you simply enter your rental information once, click search and after just a few seconds you are presented with a list of the best deals. Once you have selected your rental you are presented with a list of additional extras to choose from such as additional driver, baby seat, booster seats and GPS rental. The GPS which is displayed here is from the car rental supplier and not from Zintech. Our GPS prices are on average 50% cheaper than the car rental suppliers and with an additional £10* voucher we offer a far better deal. You are also offered an additional insurance to avoid any excess in the event you do have an accident. Most car rental companies charge an excess of £1000 on any claims so by purchasing the additional insurance you have the peace of mind that you will not have to pay any excess.

*The £10 sat nav voucher offer is valid until 31st December 2010 and is available to all bookings of 14 days or more. You will receive a discount code by email once you have placed you car hire booking at Comparison Car Hire

Sat Nav for the Middle East

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

We have recently added Middle East mapping to our satellite navigation hire range. The Middle East is becoming a far more popular place for tourists with Dubai leading the way with spectacular hotels, buildings, shops, beaches and golf courses. The mapping includes United Arab Emirates (Dubai, Abu Dhabi) Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. With sun all year round it is the ideal place to visit during our winter months.

TomTom state that the coverage is as follows, street network coverage Bahrain 99%, Kuwait 99%, Qatar 99%, Oman 80%, Saudi Arabia 82%, UAE 99%. There are 183,620 Kms of roads covered through the entire region with 90,794 points of interest. House number coverage in Kuwait is 99% and in UAE is 36%. As well as being able to navigate from house to house you can also travel from country to country across border.

Although driving laws in Dubai are very similar to many other countries with so many people driving high powered cars on highways with up to 10 lanes accidents are inevitable and the statistics show Dubai to have one of the highest road death rates in the world. A few years ago traffic was unheard of in Dubai, but now growth has overtaken the development of the road network so at peak times there are jams that would not be out of place in London.

The TomTom device we will be supplying for hire in the Middle East will contain seamless mapping for the whole area. Prices for Sat Nav Hire Middle East start from £31.02 for the first week and just £63.33 for one month.

Australia V England Ashes Dates 2010/11 announced

Friday, February 5th, 2010

It feels like England’s Ashes win in 2009 was only yesterday but already dates for the 2010/11 ashes have been announced. England will be looking to avoid the 5-0 white wash they endured in the “Forgotten Ashes” of 2006/07. As ever the Barmy Army will be travelling in the numbers next winter to support England starting with the first test in Brisbane on the 25th November. They are scheduled to play three warm up games prior to the first test in Perth, Adelaide and Hobart. After the Ashes there are 2 twenty20 matches and also 7 one day internationals.

The matches are spread throughout the country so those looking to follow England will have to choose between taking internal flights or taking the opportunity to see the sights and drive from venue to venue. With Perth being on the West coast the furthest distance between Tests is 1690 miles travelling to Melbourne for the 4th test.

As ever we will have a large stock of sat nav rentals available for Australia for this period and as with previous sporting events overseas we anticipate being busy for this period. We have a special offer of 25% off the price of sat nav hire when you book your car hire through Comparison Car Hire. On booking you car hire you will receive a 25% discount code for the sat nav. This offer is only valid until March 31st 2010.

Ovi Maps a big success now they’re free.

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Nokia have reported their Ovi Maps software application has been downloaded 1.4 million times in the week, equivalent to 1 download per second, since it’s relaunch. The top five countries for downloading the app were China, Italy, Germany, UK & Spain and the most popular Nokia devices for the downloads were the E72, 5230, N97, N97 mini and the 5800 XpressMusic.

This will be another kick in the teeth for the likes of TomTom and Garmin who specialise in personal navigation devices. Their shares took a tumble in the last quarter of 2009 following Google’s announcement of a free mobile navigation app and this news is another nail in the coffin for these stand alone devices.
