Satellite Navigation
Is it the end of the road for the map?
Maps are now almost a thing of the past thanks to the ever growing popularity of satellite navigation system. Why? Because they make travelling twice as easy and a more relaxing experience on the whole.
With so many features to these satellite navigation systems – sat nav for short- there is literally a whole world to be discovered in those little electronic boxes. As well as the many features, there are tons of benefits to hiring a sat nav. For example faster journeys, lower fuel costs and being able to explore without the worry of getting lost.
For those who do not already own a satellite navigation system there are two types on the market. The integrated kind which is fixed into a car, with these you are guaranteed factory quality installation and they are normally fixed to the dash board which provides the driver with a better view. However they are expensive to buy and can only be used in the one car they are fixed to.
Secondly there are the hand held devices which are incredibly popular because they can not only be used in any car but also outside of the car and they are also more affordable than the integrated versions.
Modern systems have many features including postcode searches for precise navigation, speed camera notification and points of interest searches such as petrol stations, museums and hotels. You can save yourself valuable time by making the most of the postcode searches which allow you to navigate your way successfully from A to B without having to go via Z, as you might have done if you had planned your own route on a map. Remember the golden rule though when entering postcodes, never enter your own. Sat nav systems always attract thieves, so never make the mistake of saving your home postcode to the system because if it should get stolen it would lead the thief back to your empty house, while you are stuck in the middle of nowhere minus your sat nav!
Points of interest alerts will you notify you as to the services available to you in the surrounding area including petrol stations, parking, cash-points, cinemas, restaurants and hotels making it an excellent feature if you are somewhere unfamiliar, so you will never miss a trick.
Along with the system itself there are also a host of useful accessories out there on the market for you to make the most of, why not purchase yourself a designer carry case so you can look good on the move with your sat nav — or even decide as to which video games you would like to play on your new sat nav system – many now come with this option.
Multi car chargers are also popular as they allow you to charge your mobile phone at the same time as your sat nav. Different types of mounts can help make the use of your sat nav system that little bit easier. Thus, whether you are using your device in the car or on a push bike, there is a mount to suit. Accessories are available from most electrical stores or online.
