Satski Ski GPS – Jean Claude Baumgartner

Friday, January 30th, 2009

This winter we have been offering Satski devices for hire. Satski is a real time interactive GPS piste map that helps you navigate from a to b and allows you to avoid tricky black runs if you are no expert. After a days skiing you are able to view all your statistics such as speed, distance travelled, routes and altitudes. The product has recently been featured on Channel 5′s “The Gadget Show” and received excellent reviews when compared with a rival Ski GPS device.

The person behind Satski is Jean-Claude Baumgartner who is confident that more and more skiers and boarders will be switching to Satski in the future. Although we are offering this product for hire there is also an option to download the software to your mobile phone or purchase the GPS unit from Satski direct.

TomTom add Brazil and Mexico to their Mapping

Monday, January 26th, 2009

TomTom have recently released new maps for both Brazil and Mexico. At first glance on the TomTom website it appears that neither mapping offers complete coverage. According to the website the mapping for Mexico contains detailed coverage of Mexico City and Guadaljara and 35% of the total road network throughout Mexico. It does appear that all the major roads are covered.

The Brazil maps boast coverage of all the major cities and towns, with all the major roads included so you can drive seamlessly throughout the country.

Once we have guaged demand for these maps we will consider adding them to our product range. If you are considering going to Brazil or Mexico and would like to hire a TomTom sat nav please feel free to reply. Also if you have used a TomTom in either country please leave a message with your feedback for our other users.

Everyday Uses for GPS

Monday, January 19th, 2009

Sat Nav is becoming more and more part of our lives every day. Nearly all of us are now familiar with in car satellite navigation and most have experienced it either as a passenger or a driver. There are constantly new uses for the GPS technology in other devices.

Whilst playing golf at the weekend a playing partner was using a Sky Caddie golf GPS device which gave exact yardages to the flag which certainly made life much easier. However, as good and accurate as the device was hitting it the correct yardage is another thing! At least the accuracy of the GPS gave you the best possible chance of hitting a perfect shot and its certainly something I would consider investing in. (as well as a few golf lessons!)

Once you get comfortable with GPS technology either in your car, golf course, at sea or climbing mountains you start to think how did you manage before much the same as with a mobile phone. It will be interesting to see in the coming years what other applications there will be for GPS as I am sure it’s uses are far from being exhausted and it is certainly here to stay.
