Christmas delivery dates and opening hours

Christmas is always a very busy time of the year for us with many people travelling abroad and in the UK. Already we are receiving many orders for the Christmas break so if you are thinking of hiring a sat nav we would recommmend not leaving it to the last minute to avoid disappoinment.

We are delivering sat nav’s right up untill December 24th. As always, items are delivered by Royal Mail Special Delivery so your order is guaranteed to be with you before 1pm on your delivery day. As mentioned in our previous article even with the recent snow disruption all orders have been delivered on time. The latest we can accept orders on the 23rd December for the next day is 16.00.

Over the Christmas period our offices will be open for business as normal during working days. Even over the holidays the phone will be answered in case you have any technical problems or questions. This is just one of the additonal benefits on offer when choosing Zintech for your sat nav hire.

Latest Delivery Update- Adverse Weather Conditions

Due to the recent cold snap we are dispatching orders a few days earlier just to make sure our customers will receive their sat nav in plenty of time. However, at present the Royal Mail is doing an excellent job despite the adverse conditions and most Special Delivery items are arriving within the guaranteed time period. For customers in the areas worse hit by snow we have been dispatching up to 5 days in advance just to make completely sure. If due to the weather an order does not arrive in time we will honour any refunds but hopefully with the excellent job the Royal Mail are currently doing we do not envisage any problems.

We are yet to see a snowflake here in our offices in Poole, Dorset but we will be keeping an eye on the long range forecast to make sure all of our customers receive their orders on time.

Sat Nav Alert for Townships in South Africa

Here at Zintech we are currently in the process of developing an early warning alert system which will help tourists avoid driving through Townships and informal settlements in South Africa. Whilst some of the townships are safe to visit as part of a guided tour, tourists are advised not to travel through these areas especially during the night. Following the tragic death of Anni Dewani recently in the township of Gugulethu we have had customers requesting if the sat nav can be programmed to avoid these areas. Whilst it is not currently possible to program the sat nav to avoid these areas our alert system will at least give drivers an advanced warning that they are approaching a township. Once the system is available all of our South African sat nav devices will be installed with these alerts. This will give drivers an audio and visual warning that they are within a certain distance from a settlement and allow them to change their route accordingly. We hope to have this available in early 2011.

Sat Nav Mapping Available for Chile

Last week we added Argentina to our range of products, staying in South America we have now added its westerly neighbouring country, Chile. Chile is a long slither of a country on the west coast of Southern America with the South Pacific Ocean to the west and Peru and Bolivia on it’s north borders.

As Chile stretches for 2700 miles from North to South it’s climate varies significantly. In the north there is the desert and in the extreme south it is very glacial. Central Chile has a very Mediterranean climate and the Pacific Islands such as Easter Island experience a sub tropical climate.

Tourism has grown considerably since 2005 with many people choosing to visit the extremes of the country. In the north San Pedro de Atacama is very popular with foreign tourists who arrive to admire the Incaic architecture, the altiplano lakes, and the Valley of the Moon. In Putre, also in the North, there is the Chungará Lake, as well as the Parinacota and the Pomerape volcanoes, with altitudes of 6,348 m and 6,282 m, respectively.

Throughout the central Andes there are many ski resorts such as Portillo, Valle Nevado and Termas de Chillan which provide skiing conditions when The Alps are green. In the south visitors flock to Patagonia and the Torres del Paine National Park to visit the many glaciers. On the west coast lies Easter Island which is very popular for locals to take their vacation.

Driving Advice for Chile

Roads are generally good in Chile, however there are a number of expensive toll roads
The main road which stretches from north to south, Panaamericana, has many tolls so make sure you have plenty of cash
Motorway speed limits are 120 km/h
Make sure you drive on the right!
Do not drink and drive
