Improved rates for Mobile Broadband Hire

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

We have recently revised our rates for mobile broadband hire. We are able to now offer packages for inclusive data for 1 to 4 weeks hire. Previously we offered the equivalent of pay-as you-go, charging by the megabyte of use. To take away any worry or racking up massive bills we have decided to charge an inclusive price so that you know exactly what you will be paying for the use.

Mobile Broadband Hire is the ideal solution for exhibitors at trade shows where some conference centres charge extortionate amounts to receive their wi-fi connection. With the cost of exhibiting expensive anyway our new price structure means that you can make a big saving if you require an internet connection.

Examples of our new Mobile Broadband Prices

Duration (Days)        Data Allowance        Price

1                               1GB                    £15.41

2                               1GB                    £20.93

3                               1GB                    £24.61

7                               1GB                    £33.81

8                               2GB                    £37.49

15                              3GB                   £52.21

22                              4GB                   £57.73

We have set our usage rates at a level where there should be more than enough data allowance in relation to the length of time you have the dongle.  If you are just retrieving emails and also surfing the net you should remain well within the allowance. We would  recommend refraining from downloading movies, software and videos as this will eat into your allowance far more quickly. There is a dialogue box which you can open on your desktop so you can check your usage or alternatively you can call us and we will be happy to let you know your remaining allowance.

Mobile broadband is not just a solution for people at exhibitions or conferences. With many broadband providers taking up to 3 weeks to activate your line if you have recently moved house mobile broadband enables you to be able to retrieve your emails and use the internet in the interim.

A Guide To Broadband

A Guide to Broadband

Take a moment to consider how the internet has affected how you work and live. You may have booked flights or a holiday online, booked tickets to a gig or concert, not bothered with the newspaper and got your news from a news site. You may have bought clothes, books or jewellery online instead of heading to the high street. The car that is sat outside on the driveway or by the kerb may have been researched and bought online and the house that it sits outside might similarly been found on the web. In this small example, it is easy to see just how far the internet has come, from an amusing side note to a central element in our lives, and with the plans for universal broadband in the Digital Britain bill that is going to parliament, it will continue to be an important aspect of our economy and lives.

Riding the crest of this broadband wave are the providers, and pretty much all of them have branched out from other things, diversifying into broadband alongside their more traditional telecommunications business. There are a good number of them, but the biggest of them are the mobile phone operator o2, Sky, BT, Virgin Media and TalkTalk, as well as smaller providers such as Eclipse, AOL and Plusnet.

Now, it is hard to accurately critique a broadband provider because the coverage by different companies in different areas will vary, making it hard to classify completely. However, it is fair to say that the traditional heavyweight is BT. Like many other telecommunications companies, they tend to have their broadband, which offers some extremely quick speeds, offered in a bundle with a rake of other services. Their popular Homehub acts as both modem and wireless router, and you can have this combined with a home phone and satellite television for a good price.

Similarly, Sky and Virgin Media are cut from the same cloth. Sky, as one of the pre-eminent broadcast companies in the world, can offer free broadband when it is taken with a Sky television package. Sky also offer phone services too. Virgin Media too offer very competitive broadband, with speeds up to 24MB, and again with value for money bundles with their V+ television service and home phone thrown in. With Virgin Media, you can even get very cheap Virgin Pay As You Go SIM cards for your mobile too.

The best tip to give when choosing a provider is to balance the best service in your area, against the speed you want and what you are planning to pay. By using a price comparison website you can do this quickly and easily. As a final tip, be sure to keep an eye out for extra deals, as many mobile phone companies doing broadband deals can offer mobile broadband too.

Mobile Broadband Hire Abroad

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

We have been offering mobile broadband hire for the last 6 months in the UK for people who maybe moving home and also visitors to the UK. To extend this service we will in the coming months be offering mobile broadband hire for people travelling outside the UK such as Europe, USA , Asia and Australia. This service will be available from June 1st just in time for those of you travelling abroad this Summer. Whether it is for business or just to check emails, mobile broadband abroad enables you to do this whilst on the move.

We will also be offering business solutions for those  wanting larger quantities of dongles for staff whilst working overseas. This option can work out a lot less expensive then using blackberries and alike to download emails and browse the web.

We will shortly be releasing our rates for this service. The dongle hire charge will be the same as it is currently for hire within the UK but usage rates will vary from country to country. The charges will be by the megabyte which you will be invoiced for once the dongle has been returned. A credit card deposit for this service will be taken prior to you rental and then a refund will be issued depending on your level of usage.

To give you some idea of what amounts to a megabyte of usage the follow is an approximate guide:

100 plain text emails or 30 web pages = 1 megabyte (approx).

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Easter Weekend

If you are planning on going away from Good Friday to Easter Monday we are revealing how to get sat nav hire at an even lower price. As the Post Office is closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays we do not expect you to post the sat nav back on these days. Therefore if you end your rental on Easter Sunday you do not need to post the Sat Nav back until Tuesday 14th April giving you 2 days hire for nothing!

To hire a TomTom UK for delivery on Thursday 9th April through to Tuesday 14th April the price is only £21.91. Just make sure when you enter your dates you enter Sunday as your end of rental.

Already with Easter approaching we are taking quite a few bookings for the USA, if you are thinking of hiring a sat nav over this period I would recommend booking fairly soon as we anticipate running out. As my previous blog entry “Sat Nav Hire Price Comparison USA” pointed out we are able to offer Satellite Navigation hire at a fraction of the price of the car rental companies.
